The video was recorded in St. Petersburg, Russia, and circulated on February 1, 2026. While some posts suggested a rare atmospheric phenomenon, specialists later explained that the effect was caused by reflections when filming the Moon through double- or triple-glazed windows.
According to meteorologists, light from a bright object such as the Moon can reflect between window panes, creating multiple duplicate images aligned with the original. The phenomenon disappears when the window is opened.
