Video footage shows a car driving onto a railway crossing and being struck by an oncoming regional train. The collision occurs as the vehicle enters the tracks while the barriers are down.
The incident took place on January 27, 2026, in Eisbergen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. According to police, the driver attempted to cross the tracks despite the lowered barriers and was hit by Regional Train RB 77.
The car was heavily damaged, and airbags deployed. The driver sustained minor injuries and initially left the scene but was later located by police. Authorities said a blood alcohol test was conducted, with results pending. Train staff and passengers were not injured and continued their journey by taxi after the line was temporarily closed.
