CCTV footage shows a powerful avalanche surging through the Sonamarg tourist resort, with snow engulfing buildings in the area. The incident was recorded by fixed cameras installed around the resort.
The avalanche struck Sonamarg in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir, India, at around 10:12 p.m. on January 27, 2026, according to local officials. The footage shows snow flowing into built-up sections of the resort late at night.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported. Officials noted that avalanche warnings had been issued a day earlier, following heavy snowfall across Sonamarg and other parts of the Kashmir Valley.
